Hilary said to Ruth, 'What matters is that people believe that it was part of the True Cross.' What's your thoughts on this statement? Do you think it would be part of the True Cross?

I can see where Hilary is coming from: it's more important for the 'belief' to be there than that it's actually a piece of the original cross. If people don't have the capacity to believe or have faith any more then it doesn't matter whether this is a real artefact or not.
Chances are it's not 'real', but who would know for certain?

I think Hilary thinks that it's good that people have something to believe in whether it is true or not. I would doubt that it would be part of the true cross as the crucifixion took place pretty far away from Walsingham.

>3 Olivermagnus: A very apposite quotation you've found there, Lynda.

Love the quote Lynda and it says it all.

>3 Olivermagnus: >6 Carol420: I agree, the quote says it all. So many people claim to have a part of the True Cross that they can't all be part of it.

What is the difference anyway whether it is true or not - there's nothing magical about it anyway.

>3 Olivermagnus: Love the quote as well. Very fitting.

Catholics would disagree with you. I know some that carry what they believe is a piece of the true cross in their rosary beads or some other type of relic which can be something that was own by a saint, apostle or Jesus.
