Is the missing piece of glass from the Walsingham dig important? If so any thoughts how?

I thought it was part of the vial the milk that was in with the stature of the Virgin that was mentioned in the first chapter I believe. Can't imagine why it would be missing from the collection. Surely someone would know if it was added to the statue at a later date and what difference would it make? Going to the boat now.

I think it is important. Not sure why but everything mentioned is usually important.

Who works at, or has access to, the museum? Would Janet (Cathbad's cross-gender friend) fit the bill?
