I am assuming we are going to stick with the formula of posting our theme on the 15th of the previous month.
5LibraryCin
Ok, I have till mid-February to come up with a topic! I'll put it in my calendar!

It's my first time stopping by. This looks like fun if I'm understanding it: the host gets to choose any random CATegory and they post it by the 15th of the prior month. And the rest of us, if we so choose, read at least one book that fits that CATegory during the designated month. Yes?
7LibraryCin
>6 EBT1002: Yes, that is correct!
8sushicat
My first time joining in as well - where and how would you give feedback on the books you've read - here or in the wiki?
9sturlington
>8 sushicat: Each month has its own thread for discussion. You also add the title of what you read and a rsting, if you choose to, to the wiki.
10rabbitprincess
Thanks for the bump to the general thread -- I have a reminder to put up January's RandomCAT next week! :)
>8 sushicat: Welcome! I hope you have fun here! This particular CAT is my favourite. Everyone is very creative in coming up with themes.

Hi, sushicat! Great to see you here!
Just thought I'd post a link to the 2016 RandomCAT wiki, just so you can see what it looks like:
http://www.librarything.com/wiki/index.php/2016CC_RandomCAT#2016_RandomCAT
In each month's thread, some people simply post what they read, others post their reviews for what they read. Your choice! This is the link to this year's November RandomCAT, so you can see what people have posted there.

>19 Tess_W: Unlike the other CATs, the RandomCAT theme is chosen by that month's host and will be revealed on or around the 15th of the previous month.

Voting has begun on the 2018 CATs. There are two polls:
List of proposed new (or new-ish) CATs: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Y88PSFM
Poll gauging interest in RandomCAT and whether you'd be OK with turning it into a KIT for 2018 if necessary: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YVG3679
You have until October 16 at 11:59 PDT to vote on the proposed CATs. Once the results are in, we'll be in a better position to decide whether to keep the RandomCAT as a CAT or turn it into a KIT.
If you're wondering about how the CATs would be structured (or could be structured), you can discuss them on the 2018 CATs Planning Thread: http://www.librarything.com/topic/269263

>37 rabbitprincess: There are no descriptions on the polls. How do I know what I'm voting for?
39RidgewayGirl
Is there a way to see how the vote is going once you've already voted?
40LibraryCin
>38 cyderry: I would suggest taking a look at the discussion thread.
41christina_reads
>39 RidgewayGirl: Yes, you can see the results (so far) after you complete the whole survey.
42sallylou61
>41 christina_reads: But can you see the more up-to-date results? I voted relatively early (within the first dozen or so voters), and have not found a way to see the more current results. I only saw the vote totals and percentages of the votes immediately after voting.
43majkia
>42 sallylou61: Go to the survey page and don't vote again, but scroll downward to DONE. If you click on DONE it will show you current results. Hmm. it worked with the first poll but not with the random one.
44sallylou61
>43 majkia: I do not see anything saying DONE. When I go back to the survey, I get the message "You have already taken the survey" and then a lot of advertisements for creating one's own survey. To do that, apparently one must set up an account and agree to a contract.
45sallylou61
>43 majkia: Apparently if you go to another browser that does not know that you have already taken the survey, you get the survey again with DONE at the bottom. Clicking on done, you get to see the graphs with the votes and percentages. However, going back again on the same browser, I get the same results about already haven taken the survey and advertisements for one's one survey. The browsers I have used were Google Crome for voting, and Firefox for looking for the results.
Have you used a browser which lets you see the votes more than once after you have completed the survey?

One day early - the November thread is up!

Thought I would give everyone a heads up:
RE: the wikis.
I posted here:
http://www.librarything.com/topic/274788#6241961
And was referred to another thread where the wikis have been turned off due to spam? Until they get some kind of fix.
