Externally a beautiful book with attractive cloth slipcase and shiny black leather cover with famous Christ engraving from 1853 edition.
No marbled end papers; typical orange Moire.
Paper stock appears to be normal from what we find in "100 best".
The 124 Illustrations from the splendid edition are mediocre per previous posts; contrast could have been better. But at least I have the Hammatt illustrations with some contrast.
Nowhere does it mention it is deluxe or limited edition to 1200, nor is it numbered.
It is more like a famous edition book and in my opinion is worth about $75-$100; the best you can currently get is a very nice rebound U.K. Edition from 1853 for $795.
The fact that I got the impressive Coleman Dictionary of Psychology valued at $120 retail (cheaper mint on eBay) makes this purchase palatable (and I am a psychologist).
The book is not worth $200 unless you absolutely adore this work and have to have it. However, It is unlikely you will ever find a better copy even at this price. I doubt it will ever sell out ---- does not appear to be a favorite judging by all the eBay listings.
In my opinion it is a GREAT book and Stowe was courageous writing it at that time when slavery was quite acceptable to many people.

The book is listed under the Deluxe link on their website, and the description clearly states that it is limited to 1200. But you are saying there is no internal evidence of a limitation? That is a serious case of false advertising.

>3 supercell: I stand corrected. Numbered page found after thick Moire end page.

4: yeah, that would be a bit of an error to omit that :O
"I doubt it will ever sell out" -come on. It will absolutely sell out. May take a few years, but it certainly will.

The printing of the illustrations is symbolic to me of continued rascism in America. The features of white people are prominent and clear. The features of black people nearly completely obscured, unlike the original Hammatt illustrations documented in previous posts on this unfortunate printing.

As an aside, if you use an illuminated magnifying glass, you can see the features of the African-Americans better.

>8 brooksknight: If you search on Uncle Tom, you will see plenty of photos of books and illustrations, even comparison of original illustrations to EP scanned illustrations. In short, I am saying the book is worth it if you can get one of those $100+ gift books from EP as I did,
