I suppose it would be hard for most of us to discuss any book by a Pope in writing, in public. At LibraryThing we have only 5 mostly very short reviews from about 120 owners of the book ( sorry I forget the exact number).
Yet it seems an important book to me, because we don't have a great deal in English to help us understand the thinking of our Pope. To the best of my recollection he published about half a dozen books in Spanish, but I'm not aware they have yet been translated and published. (I would certainly welcome correction/update on this.)
The questions raised, at least implicitly, are enormous:
Is our Church merciful enough?
Does the Church have too much treasure?
Would giving to the poor help much?
Can the Church better find jobs, education, food, shelter and healthcare for the poor?
Is anyone interested in discussing? Is this a good place to discuss? For years we had wonderful Small Church Groups where we could discuss issues like this, but we're getting too old to go.

Church of Mercy
If you look at Pope Francis' author page, you will see that several of his books have been translated. Some are encyclicals, but there are others.

The Church of Mercy currently has 5 reviews at LT, although three are very short. To me, it seems disappointing that there is very little specifically to suggest how the Church can be more Merciful, except in the vague senses of "getting poor" and becoming "more open." I hope others will comment on comments that provide more guidance.
I'll admit I've been troubled by the Pope ever since he stated he was not to be judge, particularly of sodomy.
Other concerns:
p 13- "...unless Christians are revolutionaries, they are not Christians."
p 100- "We cannot become starched...overeducated Christians."
p 103- "Rampant capitalism has taught the logic of profit at all costs..."
p 115- "Leprosy of careerism..."
Can you interpret and praise this book? The cover says it is a vision for the Church, but perhaps you find the Exhortation Evangelium Gaudium is more coherent.
