I expect the burglaries are connected to each other - probably someone connected to the alarm firm, seeing as the alarms seem to be circumvented and there are no signs of break-in.

I think the burglaries are connected to the obituary of the recently died individuals that have alarm systems.

I agree but that still doesn't explain why they leave so many valuables behind. I'm sure McLean's grandmother's house will be either robbed or used as a setup.

What is actually stolen? Is it just jewellery?
Is there a link to the 60-year-old murder? I seem to remember mention of an inventory being available from the insurers - perhaps if this shows up, we'll get a better idea of what is going on, and whether the crimes are linked (or not).

I agree with Sergei...we don't know what was stolen. I also thought that it could be someone working for the alarm company.

>2 Sergeirocks: I agree Sergei. >5 Sergeirocks: I also thought about something being stolen that may link back to the original murder, some evidence that identifies the murderers?

I think it's someone from the Alarm Company since the most recent ones had the same service. Also think maybe the items stolen are related to the dead girl and are trophies or pictures or something along that line

We're being led to believe the robberies are all connected. It's too coincidental that the thefts occurred shortly after death of the homeowner with obituaries in the paper and having the same alarm company. I agree it's likely someone who either works for or has inside info from the alarm company.
I'm also assuming Grandma's house will get burgled (however I didn't read anything about her having an alarm system).

>9 bluebird_: I thought grandma might get burgled as well. Unless, the burglaries are connected to the young woman's death then no, since I don't want to think grandma was involved.

I don't think all the burglaries are tied to the earlier murder. I'm not sure if there's more to it, or if the thief is throwing in a few "extra" thefts to keep the other accomplices from sering a pattern and going into hiding.

I think there's something tied with the obituaries and the alarm company. Guessing someone at the alarm company is choosing victims from the obituaries that they can cross reference with their customer list. I had a brief thought they were somehow tied to the murder since I recall reading that some jewelry was taken and given the trinkets...I thought there was something to it, but given the timeframe of the murder, that's probably pretty farfetched.

>4 Olivermagnus: I also expect grandma to be burgled. If these are all elderly people they might be tied somehow with the girl's murder. In grandma's case maybe indirectly through one of the "grandfathers" in the picture.
