What were your initial thoughts on the suicide of Peter Andrews? Do you think it will be connected with other events?
2Sergeirocks
Andrews was in a similar funk to Okolo before death, so I believe them both to have been drugged or hypnotised (surely not possessed?) and programmed to kill themselves after killing their victims (also under programming).

>2 Sergeirocks: I think so too. I'm suspecting MacAllister of smuggling drugs or doing something of the type that will make the "killers" open to suggestion. MacAllister doesn't seem smart enough to be doing the "programming" but definitely capable of supplying the product and the people

I do believe that the suicide of Okolo and Andrews are very similar but I'm not sure about the drugs. I would go with something more supernatural like possibly hypnosis. I wouldn't say that MacAllister would have been able to drug the killers from 1945 so I'm still not sold on the drugs. I do think that the suicides are connected but I don't know why they seem in a daze beforehand.

Interesting theories all...I think hypnosis would be more likely than drugs. Drugs would be too easy to trace. Their dazed condition could also be related to hypnosis.

I'm hoping she will have some answers about all this supernatural stuff.

Indeed Okolo and Andrews seem to be in the same boat - and the girl that jumped from the bridge.
There are some stories (rumors?) on the net about a drug called burundanga (actually scopolamine) that acts very fast and puts people under the influence of others and causes memory loss in the short term.

>8 sushicat: That's interesting. Can you imagine not having any control over what you are doing???

I think there's some sort of hypnosis involved. I could buy drugs if the explanation was plausible enough. I'm not sure how a drug could cause a person to kill someone with a knife (to the extant they were) and then go commit suicide.

Another thing that appears to be very odd is that the jumper and Peter Andrews seem to both have fatal, and very advanced diseases that no one knew they had before they died. I can see a causal acquaintance not knowing but their co workers, their parents and their best friends that see them everyday???? That just doesn't pan out for me. Some type of fast acting drug must be being delivered to cause this. I can't imagine anything that would work that fast unless it's coming from an experimental lab.

Seems like hypnosis to me., and I agree like Okolo programmed to kill and then self-destruct.

I agree the Okola, Andrews and the jumper are all connected to the murders. I also think some form of hypnosis more likely than drugs. I also wondered about Andrews advanced disease--something unusual happened to him--his father was shocked by the change in his physical condition in a short period of time. I wasn't aware the jumper also was ill prior to this chapter. Either I missed it or it's in a later section.
