When McLean entered the house had you suspected that Carstairs had been murdered?

Yes. Once we were informed that Tony saw a 'drunk' young woman staggering down the street, I knew this was our unknown woman and that Tony was too late and Carstairs was our next victim.

yes. The woman whose thoughts we were just "listening" to was the one that he saw moving down the street (I assumed). Also the fact that the door was open and no one greeted him were giveaways that something was wrong.

Yes as soon as no one answered the door, I knew Carstairs was murdered probably by that woman.

I agree that the door being open said that Carstairs was dead. Who was the woman? She's more than likely the killer but maybe she's a daughter or a granddaughter of the girl in the basement. We haven't learned anything about her family.
