Why do you think Carstairs left his estate to McLean?

Haven't a clue. This has me puzzled.

I was originally thinking that maybe he had a "thing" for Grandma. Then I wondered about the picture in grandma's house with the mystery guy -- maybe that was Carstairs?

Maybe he's McLean's biological grandfather.

I think Carstairs is McLeans' grandfather but Esther did not marry him.

I think the visitor at the grave is McLean's biological grandfather. I rather think that conscience was driving Carstairs and that there will be something in his legacy to add clues to the resolution.

I don't think Carstairs was related to Tony. I think it's the mystery man at the graveyard. None of it makes sense to me so I'm anxious to find out what the real story is.

I also think the man at the grave is his biological grandfather, so did Carstairs have no one else to leave it to after Esther died so left it to her heir?

>8 Andrew-theQM: I would add a further question, Andrew - why did Carstairs change his will just a few days before his death? Would there be any relevance in the timing?

>9 Sergeirocks:
He changed his will because he is the grandfather or he had no one else to leave it to and he was close to Esther so left the money to McLean.

>10 EadieB: I agree wit you. He had feelings for Esther and he didn't have any family to leave it to also.

I think Esther was his original beneficiary. With her gone the next logical step would be to leave it to Tony (since he'd have gotten it after her death anyway). I'm not sure why she was the beneficiary--either due to his strong feelings for her or because of his guilt about whatever happened in the 1940's that somehow touched on her).

I initially thought he could be the grandfather but once the mystery man at the gravesite appeared I changed my mind. I think it's the mystery man.

>12 bluebird_: Esther being Carstairs' original beneficiary would make sense, Bb.
