Why did Spenser offer McLean a job?

I think it was to get him away from the case -- Spenser was involved and Tony is getting too close for his own good

Totally agree, Brenda. I believe he knows Tony is his grandson and so would rather not kill him if he can get him off the investigation another way.

I agree, he wants Tony out of harms way and away from the investigation.
However, I'm on the fence about him. He could either be the next victim or he's the one behind it all.
My head hurts! Need sugar! I'm off to scrounge around the boat to see what goodies I can scrape up.
