Any thoughts what was happening in Chapter 49?

I thought it was someone outside Spenser's house and that the guy that attacked him was the chauffeur we met earlier. I don't remember if we've been to a location that is near a brewery but that was specifically mentioned as one of the scents in the air.

I thought it might be someone outside McLean's flat. Another 'zombie' (for want of a better word).

I have no plausible idea.

Definitely another zombie, but no clue who he was after and who killed him.

It could be Spenser's chauffeur going after McLean.

This seemed strange, but likely to be another person being killed.

At the time, I thought it was our next murderer going after Spenser but the chauffeur got in the way and dispatched him.

However, now I'm thinking Spenser is behind all of this and he sent the murderer after the chauffeur. The end game is in sight and the chauffeur knew too much. With this theory, I'm guessing the brewery is near the location of the new ritual.
