Absolutely. Duguid should have done some additional work on it - it was easy enough for Tony and McBride to find more evidence

Duguid went storming in with both size 9s. What an idiot. He should have done some investigating first, not just gone in on someone's 'hunch'.

Of course....he was a typical character in this type of book. Angry, jealous and lazy.

They are probably chosen through knowing someone or political reasons.

Good question, Eadie - I often wonder how these people have been chosen for promotion.
Many of the superior officers we read about are both rude and incompetent: it just doesn't make sense to me... I wonder how reflective this is of real life?

Maybe is a part of the bad cop/good cop syndrome. Bad superintendent/ good superintendent. lol

This should get him demoted. Not only bad to charge in on flimsy evidence and grab one of your own, but he disrupted the entire SOC unit, took all their computers and shut them down completely. No leg work in advance. Like a robbery grab and run: take it all and hope you've got some jewels in the mix! He's greatly harmed their relations with the SOC team. Really Bad Move.

Agree, he effectively shut down the whole SOCO system - what would have happened if there had been another murder at the time he shouldn't have gone with the easier answer and should have done more investigation. Then if he needed to arrest some one do it in a quieter and more respectful manner.
