What did you think to the ending of the story? How do you think everything was reseloved?

I actually liked the way the supernatural aspect was resolved and I thought Oswald did a good job in tying up most of the outstanding items
There were still some open issues:
how did Spenser get scarred?
Who leaked the photos? Was it Malky?
I would have liked Tony to claim Spenser's estate (assuming that he was his grandfather) - he could have done good with it if he didn't actually want it.
What other secrets did Gran have?

I, too, think one or two issues were unresolved - eg. did Tony hear a girl's voice? And if so, who? Who was the mystery man in Esther's photo?
I wonder if this last was left open so that McLean's story can be explored further in future books? There were definitely some hints in this book that Tony is not 'normal' and that he'd turned out differently from what his Gran expected...
More reading required, I feel.

>3 Sergeirocks: the 2nd book in the series actually deals with the death of Kirsty and Tony's investigation into it

>4 bhabeck: In that case, Brenda, I hope Oswald deals with my questions further down the line.

I no longer think that Spencer or Carstyiars was Tony's grandfather. I think if there had been that much of a storyline Oswald would have revealed it. I did like the ending but like Sergei I would have liked to know the reasoning behind the girl's voice that Tony heard. Maybe it was the demon trying to torment Tony.

I agree not everything resolved and hope we can get some of these questions answered in the next books.

It left lots of questions open.

>2 bhabeck: Yes, I believe Malky was the one who leaked the photos. He came from Glasgow, and that's the police division that also had photos leaked.
I think Spenser was the father: based on Carstairs letter and the demon's comment about Tony's blood.
I wonder if Spenser had some minor psychic that spurred him to find the demon (and turn to the dark side).
That ability could have been passed down to Tony. That could explain how he saw the drawings and heard the girl.
I liked the ending and don't mind the open items. Everything regarding the murders was nicely resolved (even though I'm not a fan of supernatural elements in an otherwise traditional worldview). I look forward to getting answers regarding Tony's background in future books.

>9 bluebird_: I'm on the same page. What needed resolving was resolved. Some open questions left for the next book is ok. I would have appreciated a resolution that did not involve the supernatural. But once we knew about the fast diseases, that was really not possible anymore.

I was disappointed by the supernatural end to the book in what was essentially advertised as a crime book, but that is most probably my issue. This did knock the potential rating down from 4.5 to 4 for me.
Also agree some issues left unresolved. Some of the bigger ones will most probably be resolved in future books, but do feel some of the minor issues still should have been resolved.
