Once a year, Norwegian bookstores dump parts of their back catalog at steepish discounts; you can order the desired titles in advance and simply pick them up as the sale starts (On Monday, methinks).
Anyway, I go to the local bookstore to order a few titles - among them Dostoevsky's Brothers Karamasov, as I have heard that the translation offered is excellent. I also ordered Crime and Punishment, as this is a nice hardcover edition, and my only Norwegian edition as of now is a tattered paperback.
The sweet little thing behind the counter, bless her, looked over my order and gasped something along the lines of "Gads, this is, like, LITERATURE. Proper books. All I do is selling cheesy romance novels all day!" - after which she proceeded to hug me and look somewhat flustered afterwards. As did I, I suspect - getting hugged by women half my age is not a daily occurrence, I'm afraid.

Wonderful story!
I dare not speculate what she would have done had you ordered the full Nietzsche set also on sale: http://www.mammutsalg.com/mb/d/bok.php?id=6010

>2 Mencius: To this uneducated peasant, life is too short to read Nietzsche.
I am still on the fence with regards to the collected works of Peter Wessel Zapffe, though. If I am to get exposed to Nietzsche, it may as well be indirectly. (I have only read a couple of PWZ' works, and found him more agreeable than Nietzsche by far)
