Also, a DLE must have sold out in the last few days, but I haven't figured out which one.

Froissart Chronicles, item 3012, is the latest DLE to drop off the list.

The original edition, signed by the illustrator, is readily available on abe.com for $65 and up.

>3 jroger1: The original is quarter bound in leather, is letterpress with the prints on hand made Arches paper. Hard to understand why anyone would pay four times as much for the EP copy.

Very interesting choice! Can't say I like the cover much :/
The Talmud is about Jewish law and practice. Couldn't EP... you know, have used a Star of David, maybe some blue and white? Why a big snowflake on the cover? :/
Ah well. By the way, this does appear to be a fairly rare LEC book. The vast majority of copies are Heritage Press. Also, I have to wonder, if by releasing such LEC reprints, does EP raise the value of the original LEC editions?

I want to like this aside from the snowflake on the cover. I'm not familiar with the artist, but the illustrations look like marker sketches on dry erase board done quickly before a next-day deadline. I know Matisse and Picasso drawings may give the same impression, but I've always sensed talent and purpose in those drawings. Maybe that's because I know their bodies of work, though. It looks like this artist was pretty significant after my google search, so maybe it's just a matter of taste. I had a similar feeling (not nearly as aversive) with the Gilgamesh DLE with the illustrations not really being my taste, but I ended up getting it anyway.

6: I'd live to see some pics and hear your overall impression after you've looked through it.

I think they were going for a stylized Star of David--if you take off the snowflake decoration and just use straight lines, I see a Star of David. But I'm not Jewish, so my opinion should be taken lightly:)
