The Hunters by Chris Kuzensk
The Hunter series Book #1
A new team is brought together, although they do not know by whom.
The team consists of Jack Cobb - a former soldier, who is grouped with Sarah -a renowned art thief. Garcia -an expert in all things technological - and Jasmine who is fluent in many languages and well versed in ancient cultures and religions - and Josh McNutt who is not a weapons expert… but a deadly marksman with a penchant for killing.
Their task is to locate the treasure so long hidden away, formerly from the Romanian Royal Family.
The task involves a character who lives his dream… Dobrev, an engineer on the Russian Railways, who gets to drive his most favorite railway engine in the world ….plus two Russian Detectives…a village full of people who have been sheltered from the world for most of their lives… and a group known as The Black Robes who wish to find evidence concerning their inspiration, namely Raputin and will willingly kill anyone that gets in their way.
The story moves at a fast pace with barely a pause for breathe and we found that we had to suspend our disbelief's on some occasions.
The main problem all had with the story was the characters reactions to events and the fact that we never really found out who had really put the team together. Perhaps this question will be answered in Book #2.
Stats: There were 6 people that took part in the discussion who gave the book an overall rating of 3.71.
Comments: "Not overwhelmingly great read, but interesting proposition, based on true facts and Kuzneski's ancestral background. I'm feeling generous enough to give it 4 stars, because overall I enjoyed the plot and the writing could just have been a bit smoother for my liking."
"It wasn't great literature or as good as some of his other books that I've read... but there was parts of it that were really good...not good enough for 4 but tolerable and promising."
"Anyone looking for small team military action, espionage, tomb raider type treasures with several twists and turns then you cannot go wrong with this book"

Jack Cobb - The leader. He appears to be a good leader and a careful planner. He's sometimes too wiling to take chances and expects others to follow him with no questions asked.
Sarah - She's not afraid of anything or anyone and will go after whatever the mission is and not stop until she achieves her goal.
Jasmine - A language expert but not really a fighter. I thought there was many times she seemed completely out of her element in the last book. Being the "softer" member of the team...she can empathize with people and convince them to do what she wants most of the time.
Josh - An expert marksman. Good man to have your back. He doesn't always think the situation through before reacting.
I can't remember the computer guy's name but he was more than capable of making a computer talk to him and hacking didn't seem to present any problems for him.
We still don't know who is the money man that put the team together.

Carol: Thanks for the info on the first book and covering the characters so nicely!
Hector Garcia is the computer guy.
Jean-Marc Papineau - Frenchman who obtained everything the team needed for their mission.
Here's some info about the author I found interesting:
Born in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Kuzneski currently lives in Tampa, Florida. In fourth grade, he wrote The Monster Cookbook, which so impressed the librarian that it was bound and placed in the school library.
Indiana, Pennsylvania is a borough near Puxatawny where the groundhog lives that tells us how many more weeks of winter if he sees his shadow on Groundhog Day.
Info about Indiana, Pennsylvania:
Indiana is a borough and the county seat of Indiana County in the U.S. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The population was 13,975 at the 2010 census, and since 2013 has been part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area after being a long time part of the Pittsburgh Media Market. Indiana is also the principal city of the Indiana, PA Micropolitan Statistical Area.
The borough and the region as a whole promotes itself as the "Christmas Tree Capital of the World" because the national Christmas Tree Grower's Association was founded there. There are still a large number of Christmas tree farms in the area. The largest employer in the borough today is Indiana University of Pennsylvania, the largest of 14 PASSHE schools in the state.
Notable person from Indiana Pennsylvania besides Chris Kuzneski:
Indiana was the birthplace and hometown of actor Jimmy Stewart (1908–1997), who was born there and lived at 104 North 7th Street. Despite the fact that he left the area upon graduating from high school, the town always followed his career closely, with the local newspaper periodically publishing rumors in his later years that Stewart planned to return there to live. On May 20, 1983, Stewart was given a 75th birthday celebration by the town. Before Stewart's death, a museum to his memory was opened on the third floor of the local public library, and a bronze statue of Stewart was erected in his honor at the county courthouse during his 75th birthday. The town annually holds a Jimmy Stewart film festival as part of the town's "It's a Wonderful Life" holiday celebration.

>4 EadieB: Thanks. I couldn't find his name anywhere. I thought I had put it in the document I had saved that listed the team members...but I guess that's what I get for thinking:) The info about the author and his home town was very interesting also. Indiana, Pennsylvania sounds like the founders of the town couldn't decide here they wanted to be...Indiana or Pennsylvania. Maybe we should include something like this with all our authors. Let's see what everyone thinks about it.

Thanks Carol and Eadie, cracking job from both of you - this information will help all of us immensely and help to refresh our memories as it was November when we read the last one. 🥇
