Paul Thomas Anderson's "There Will Be Blood" based on the novel Oil! by Upton Sinclair (2007DEC26)

Jay Russel's "The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep" based on the children's novel The Water Horse by Dick King-Smith (2007DEC25)

Persepolis? That's been out here since Oct. 11 and in other parts of the country since September! I can't believe we were actually ahead for once... It's one of the best movies I've seen in quite a while.

Has anyone seen "I am Legend" yet? I loved the book and can't quite bear to see it if it's too corrupted (thinking "War of the Worlds" here...)

Zeesosa: Thanks - maybe I'll risk it - I can deal with straying from the true story as long as it gets the gist of the book, or is at least well done (thinking Stardust here) and I do love action films!

Re The Golden Compass and Atonement, I thought that both were well done - but it's a long time since I read either, and I'll bet that there'll be a lot of nit-picking about The Golden Compass...
