For Tolkien collectors Kullervo is now available from EP. I must be the odd one since only LOTR and the Hobbit interest me. https://www.eastonpress.com/prod/9BF/3265/THE-STORY-OF-KULLERVO?

>1 HugoDumas: Your not the only one who is interested in Tolkien's works. I have been collecting and reading his books especially the deluxe slipcase editions. My family and I also love the movies as well. Thanks for posting this.

>2 Tolkienfan: Deluxe slipcase? I have never been pleased with the EP LOTR and Hobbit and want them DLE quality with great art. Do these exist? And yes I have all the Jackson Director cuts on Blu-ray. Watched them multiple times on my 8 foot screen in my man cave.

3: Yes! We deserve a DLE Hobbit and LoTR! Boy, that would be one heck of a seller, probably selling out within a few days.

I would settle for just getting a Children of Huron reprint for now. The reseller prices are so high on that one.
6Eastoner
>5 Arknight: The Children of Huron, The Legend of Sigurd and Gurdin, and Tales From the Perilous Realm are all on my list for needing a reprint!

>3 HugoDumas: You are not aware of the deluxe slipcase editions by Harper Collins? They have been around for years. All of Tolkien's titles can be bought in the hardback deluxe slipcase editions and are very affordable. The books do feature original art by Tolkien. Here is a link for the Tolkien Book Shop that carries these editions: http://www.tolkien.co.uk/category/Exclusive+%26+Deluxe

>7 Tolkienfan: I am aware and have followed them on eBay and Folio. I am interested in something the magnitude of the Rackham Wagner by EP with artwork the caliber of Ul de Rico's Ring of the Nibelungen. It's my #1 book set and I am willing to pay.
9Tolkienfan
>8 HugoDumas: That would really be a great set of books if they combined the details and art into all of Tolkien's books. I would buy them without thinking twice.
10HugoDumas
>9 Tolkienfan: You must see Ul de Rico's Folio size Ring signed by Solti to understand what I am looking for. People are giving it away on eBay. If they can do a Rackham Wagner, they can pull this off. 4 volume oversized set of LOTR and Hobbit with 100 color plates could fetch a $1,000 .
11astropi
10: I'm pretty sure producing a set with 100 original color plates is easily over $1000 for the consumer. Depends on the limitation number of course, and other circumstances, but off-hand I would say you're dreaming. Maybe 10-color plates per book at MOST (still unlikely) and a bunch of B&W illustrations. That is far more doable as far as I can tell, and it would be amazing. We really need a nice limited Tolkien set. I'm amazed none have really been done (sans the Folio Society edition, which is just the regular edition + a slapped on nicer binding).

Yeah but if, let's say, Tolkien made roughly 100 drawings and anybody, not just EP, published a super deluxe version of his books but only included 10 of the 100 drawings everyone would cry foul and deservedly so. They could bind the set in mithril but it couldn't legitimately be called deluxe if it only included a subset of those drawings.
And perhaps that explains why we don't have a super deluxe set: the do it right or don't do it at all principle applies.
Regardless, like everyone else here, I would pay a lot for a really nice super deluxe version of the primary four or even five if Silmarillion was included.

No doubt it is re-sellers snapping up dozens of copies in that very hope! I expect to see it listed on eBay the day after stock runs out at about a 300% markup.

Since it only lasted about 9 weeks in stock, perhaps they will run another batch. I'm really surprised the re-sellers haven't noticed it yet and marked them up. The three listed ones are at less than 100% profit.

They've definitely had this offering for much longer then 9 weeks. I have an email from Easton Press from early last November asking me to order.

Oh. I was just going by the first post of this thread. Wonder why it took so long to get a thread going for a Tolkien selection.
Wonder if they'll be putting out Beren and Luthien.

>18 Wootle: I'm still hoping for a Children of Hurin reprint since EP put this book out before I started collecting!

I need that one as well. I'm sure they will be putting out Beren and Luthien too, judging by their publishing history.

Anyone purchase the Hitory of the Lord of the Rings? Is Easton's version worth the $99 per volume price? Whereas that price is in line with their more recent offerings, I wasnt sure if that included any art or maps. I have read most of I haven't read and been able to collect most of the other EP Tolkien offerings, I haven't read that series yet.
22Eastoner
>21 hamletscamaro: I was able to find a sealed set of the four volumes for around $270 on eBay a while back. The $99/volume put me off from purchasing from EP but when I saw this set for sale I decided to purchase them. However, I can't really answer your questions as I haven't read them or even removed the shrinkwrap yet.

Since EP entirely deleted this catalog page, I'm guessing it is not going to be reprinted anytime soon. Hope everyone got one that wanted it.

Each book in the set does have a color frontispiece containing a map or drawing from Tolkien's notes. There are also a few other drawings interspersed throughout the text, although, not very many.
