What is it about Regency Romance that keeps us going back for more?

I love romance in all its guises but there is something about Regency romance that draws me in like a moth to a flame. Does anyone else feel the same?

For me it's partly to do with the elevated language (I know, they're not all at the level of Austen or Heyer!) but what else? Would love to hear your ideas.

Jane Austen Georgette Heyer Julia Quinn Julie Garwood Lisa Kleypas Loretta Chase Eloisa james

>1 DGRampton: For me it's usually clean, pure romance with some character study. I'm addicted to vintage, traditional, sometimes Christian romances. They help me sleep at night and keep me from being bored in waiting rooms.
I just started a recency exchanges on FB but no members yet..wish librarything had an exchange. Tired of overpricing on eBay.
