We've been skipping our weekend threads, but not with intention, I think. So here's one.
I'm very lethargic, but have things to do. Plugging along. My son and his wife are coming today to spend the night. I made slow cooked pork and will make salsa and other fresh veggies to serve alongside. Thawing some pinto beans which were cooked and in the freezer. Unlike other weekends when I was excited to cook, I am not today. Can hardly get my bum out of the chair. I think it's a bit of a bug I had during the week which is hanging on, because my energy levels haven't been this low in a long time.
Tomorrow morning will be sausage gravy and baking powder biscuits, then we go to a showing of Wonder Woman.

I am pottering in the garden, mainly. My husband is having a baking day, and I'm expecting cinnamon buns soon - yum!

Raining tomorrow so I'll be grounded. Today is cloudy and only about 60 with a fierce breeze so it's not fun sitting outside which really sucks considering the length of the winters up here. It's basically been raining since it stopped snowing. I'm hating it right now.

It's a rather hot weekend here in the high desert of Oregon. The Husband and I went out early for a bike ride. It went well until he got a flat tire. Our pump wasn't working, but a nice man stopped and helped us. He even ended up giving us one of his tubes because the one we had wouldn't inflate. Then we rode home hoping the tire's damaged sidewall would hold. We were 13 miles from home.
We've just been taking it easy the rest of the day. Some reading, some resting, some snuggling with the kitties.
Tomorrow is supposed to be near 100 so we won't be doing a whole lot outside. I have a quilt I need to finish so I'm hoping to work on it some.

My husband and I cleared out one important cabinet in the kitchen. We're working at de-cluttering; a waffle iron, two skillets, and several sets of muffin tins are currently slated to be shipped off to either Goodwill or the church's White Elephant sale. We also did the groceries, etc. -- the standard stuff that always needs to get done. Later this afternoon, we'll tackle the cabinets by the sink with the same intent of de-cluttering.
Today, he went over to the local community theater to install a new sound and light board while I sat in Panera with coffee. I love their hazelnut coffee and it was early enough in the day that it won't keep me awake all night.
I'm missing ALA this weekend and I can't decide if I'm disappointed or relieved. I wish I were there to see and chat with all my industry buddies, but I'm not missing the hassles of trudging through McCormick Place or waiting for the @#^% shuttle buses to get to the other venues.

The Husband and cats let me sleep in this morning. That felt good. I went for a run while he went for a long ride. Then a few errands. Now we are home and sitting in air conditioning. It's too hot for The Husband to be outside.

Wonder Woman was fun. DC is always a darker world than Marvel, but there was much to like about this. I got the giggles when Captain James T. Kirk washed up on the shore of the Amazons though. Of course he did.
Also, we had watched Lego Batman last night, which made for happiness in the opening scenes of the movie for me.

Busy weekend! Friday night we had 3 authors of 2 books with Alaska Highway themes give a talk at the theatre, followed by a showing of a documentary on the making of the Highway - 75th anniversary this year. Went with a couple of friends, then went out for a bite and a beer with one of them, Kristine, who is up from Fort St. John for work and to triathlon with me Sunday. Saturday I unclogged my kitchen sink - it got really bad a few days ago, and it is no fun having no kitchen sink! In the afternoon walked Duncan with a couple of friends, then K and I went down to the triathlon registration to pick up our packages and have snacks, then go to the movie.

Today I was up early to get to the triathlon by 7ish. Our heat started at 8:30, but they wanted everyone there early for numbers and stuff. K and I split the swim (500m each), then she did the 40km bike, and I did the 10k run. I've had a cold all week, and although it is much better, I could really feel it dragging me down. That and the lack of actual running and swimming practice lately. Puppies take a lot of time! We did pretty well overall, but I don't have our final times yet. The first 5 km of my run was pretty good, but the last 5 km was pretty bad, and my legs were cramping for the last bit, so I walked a lot. Oh well! Fortunately Kristine is an awesome swimmer and biker! Being 18 years younger probably doesn't hurt either.
After it was all over I took a break, then met a friend for a dog walk, which unfortunately was cut short by a thunderstorm. Good excuse not to cut the grass.

>10 catzteach: I think this spot was called Abert Rim? It is the furthest east we went. We had followed the Columbia from Dalles to Astoria, then went down the coast and through Crater Lake before going east. We had a lot of fun visiting the Stellar Sea Lions. We made our way back up past Mount Hood before flying back out of Portland.
My brother lives just over the river, in Prosser WA - we are hoping to visit him next year.

>13 Darth-Heather: I have yet to go to that part of the state. I believe there is an Abert Lake, too. I'm about two hours from Crater Lake so I've been there a few times.
