ORIGINAL POST FROM JULY 2017

Another FS edition from the archives.
The Folio Society produced both a standard edition of J.M.Barrie’s Peter Pan and Wendy, and a Fine Edition, the latter in 2006 being much larger (34 x 26 cm. In slipcase) than the standard edition.
The Fine Edition also had 12 tipped in colour illustrations by Debra McFarlane as well as black and white line drawings scattered through the text, illustrated endpapers and a map of Neverland.
Printed on Morzine Wove paper by Memminger, Germany. Bound in full buckram blocked with a design by the artist.
The pictures below show the charms of the Fine Edition.

I'll soon be able to see the fine edition for myself as it's heading my way from Oxfam, consigning the "standard" edition to eBay. The inverted commas are because in all respects it's a lovely production. I enjoyed your piece on The Gentleman's Daughter as well. It reminded me of how beautiful a book it is, though it's been on my shelves for several years. That's one of the problems with Folio - beautiful editions are very quickly overtaken by more beautiful editions.

More, please.

>1 wcarter: I like this particular angle to highlight previously published Folio books. Maybe it is a consideration to 'bundle' them into 1 topic for clarity? But please continue!

That is so true! I am just now getting around to reading my FS copy of Lost Illusions which is a most beautifully designed book. After about 150 out of 600 pages into the story, I'm thoroughly enjoying the writing as well. The beauty is largely due to the silk boards. Entombed between other FS books on the shelf, there is nothing particularly special about just the spine (though it works as part of the whole), so you don't really get to appreciate it until you remove it from its storage spot.

>1 wcarter: I also like your idea and would be interested in a continuation. The proposal of >3 NLNils: is quite good. You could also have something in front of the topic's title like "From the FS archives: ".

>1 wcarter: I own this volume and still appreciated your review, and would enjoy further entries if you have the time and energy for it.

I am slowly taking steps to get my library cataloged into LibraryThing, although it is slow going for the many books without an ISBN, and now everything is boxed up for a move.

I started out with the standard version, but had the companion volume in the fine edition, so I had to upgrade to have a matching set. They are really gorgeous.
