A Gentleman in Moscow
One of the great things about The Green Dragon is the discovery of works that one might have completely missed without the Pub. A Gentleman in Moscow is a great story that I think almost every reader will enjoy. It's a real keeper. Whether one keeps buttons in separate boxes or in a big jar, there's something for everyone. I look forward to reading it again in a couple if months.

It is pretty great. I’ll keep reading whatever he writes.

I'm really looking forward to reading this when it comes out in paperback. I've heard such good things about it, and really enjoyed Rules of civility.

Ah - well I am really glad you enjoyed it. I often have less kind things to say about what I read, and I love to be able to recommend something without reservation!

Fantastic book. One of my favorites of the year! my review is https://www.librarything.com/topic/259544.

I loved this book as well. Read Rules of Civility first, which blew me away, and immediately sought out Gentleman. Does anyone know what the author plans to write next? I wondered if Sofia would get her own story.

I'm currently reading this and really enjoying it. Nina is awesome!

>11 Karlstar: I completely missed this thread, somehow. Then again I didn't read this book until January of 2018. Perhaps I was try to avoid spoilers. (There aren't any.)

>11 Karlstar: I hope you enjoy it! It's one of those rare novels that you finish, mourn deeply that it's finished, and envy those who have yet to pick it up. :)

What >13 terriks: said... LOL

Despite this thread being 7 years old, it must have stuck in my head, because I immediately recognized the author at the store today. I think they had 2 of his novels.

>15 Karlstar: I think we have been discussing this book on and off ever since 2017/18. It really is that good.

Having enjoyed the book several years ago, I recently watched the TV miniseries starring Ewan MacGregor on, I think, Paramount Plus. I thought it was very well done.

>17 Meredy: Knowing that Ewan MacGregor is in it makes all the difference in whether or not I want to see this. Now I want to.

Did they correct the “millennium/
millennia” error in the screen adaptation, or simply by-pass it?

>19 pgmcc: I don't recall its coming up.

We did finally find a way to watch the TV series, through a trial subscription to Paramount+ with Showtime. The first two episodes were great, we'll be going back to it soon.

>21 Karlstar: I'm glad that you are enjoying it. Frankly I haven't heard any bad reviews.
Not sure why I continue to resist, but I do. :)
Enjoy!

I really enjoyed it. I started reading it slowly as I got further through the book as I did not want the experience to be over.

>26 Karlstar: You might have talked me into it! Enough time has gone by that I feel more open to it. Nothing can take away the total charm of the book of course.
>24 Carrieida: Yayy!!! So glad you liked it and your book club had good discussions about it. :)

In other news about this book, 'Who is Amor Towles?' was a Jeopardy response today, in response to a question about A Gentleman in Moscow.

I found The Rules of Civility at the thrift store, and it looks good. Has anyone read it?

>38 clamairy: Thanks - it’s always nice to check back in. I’m very good, lots of changes, I relocated, I’m stopping money-generating work this coming May. It is beautiful horse country here - quiet and beautiful. I look forward to more time upcoming for reading and writing and good living.
How’ve you been?

>39 stellarexplorer: Sounds wonderful. Best of luck with the impending... I won't call it retirement because it sounds like you'll still be working just not for money.
Not much has changed for me. Still slowly having work done on my house.
