Derby Day by David Holloway 1975
Another unusual, very colourful and quite delightful small book published by the Folio Society.
Labelled as a “Folio Miniature”, Derby Day is in series with at least eleven other books (The Making of Kew, The Houses of Parliament, Pyne’s Royal Residences, Nicholas Hilliard, The History of the Circus, Pleasures and People in Bath, The Tower of London, The Royal Pavilion at Brighton, Covent Garden Memories and Traditions, Staffordshire Pottery and The London Zoo). The books in this series are actually considerably larger than the miniature poetry series published 20 years later (see http://www.librarything.com/topic/266299 ) being 18.5cm. (7.2in.) tall.
This book is a brief history of this famous race at Epsom. It has only 48 pages, but is packed with pictures of contemporary paintings depicting scenes of Derby day from 1871 to 1968.
It has no dust-jacket or slipcase, and is bound in glazed paper boards. Very unusually for a FS book, it has an ISBN number printed on the back cover, and a clipable price (£1.30) on the front flyleaf.
I only own this one in the series as they are not common on the secondary market.

An index of the other illustrated reviews in the "Folio Archives" series can be viewed at : http://www.librarything.com/topic/266300
