Why do you think they were scuttling the rig?

Again, I couldn't imagine the reason until Juan found all those computers. Presumably getting rid of evidence of whatever it is they were up to.
It can't have been simply to get rid of Linda, they could have ditched her body anywhere at sea or in the jungle. So it must be mainly about the computers.

Linda was just an added bonus and saved them time and trouble. The computers have to be for something big but I can't see them just abandoning them unless their "something big" is already done and they are killing two birds with one stone....destroy the evidence and get rid of Linda.

I didn’t know that until we were told. It seemed extreme just to get rid of Linda (a bullet was cheaper) so there had to be something that they didn’t want found now that Cabrillo was after them

>4 bhabeck: That's what I thought. Kill two birds with one stone.

I thought they wanted to destroy the computer farm and any evidence that they were hacking the U.S. It was a convenient way to rid themselves of the two women, but not the primary one.

I assumed it had to be to get rid of the evidence of something, but not sure yet until further on in the story and we were told about the computers.

To get rid of evidence.
