For those interested in a first-hand account of Mormon life, I found this book very interesting from many perspectives. Amazon doesn't have any details on their website and I don't have my copy handy, so I can't remember the time period in which she was writing, but I believe 1800s. She speaks candidly about motherhood under sometimes dangerous conditions, the role of family vs. authority of church, etc. Highly recommended and I'd be glad to swap a copy to someone.
