i know that this has absolutely nothing to do with Twilight or Stephanie Meyer, but i noticed that quite a few of us have read A Great and Terrible Beauty and Rebel Angels by Libba Bray.
i was really jsut wondering if anyone has read A Sweet Far Thing, the third and last book in the series becasue i read it a few weeks ago and i have no one to talk to about it. so any comments?

HECK YES!

I read that book in ONE day! It was sooo good, but now I am sad that the trilogy is over! I love her books as much if not more than the Twilight Series. They are really, really good!

Anytime you want to talk about it, we can! TTYL. BYEZ!

I'm in the middle of A Great and Terrible Beauty at the moment. I'm enjoying it quite a bit. It isn't quite what I expected, but I am definitely sucked in.

It feels very similar to a girl's version of Dead Poet's Society without the inspirational schooling.

One things I greatly dislike, but I can easily get over, is the fact that not all of the writing is completely period. It is obvious from dates in the book that we're looking at the last quarter of the 19th century, yet many of the phrases come from the 20th or 21st century. As I said, I can easily get over this, but would prefer it to be more period. I can understand the lack of writing in a strictly period tongue, though, especially with the target audience being YA.

ooh, this was a nice reminder to myself to get a sweet far thing.. i'm having a big finishing off a series thing at the moment.. i should do that. you could kind of tell from the ending of the second book that there was going to be a third.. i must get it!

what are you all talking about? I would LOVE to read books that are just as good or better than Twilight! Can you clue me in?? I have heard of A Great and Terrible Beauty but was put off by the old setting, I don't like books set in the past but if you can convince me, I might get into them!! =)

In my opinion, the setting does not have a huge impact on the book (at least 1 & 2). It could just as easily be set today as it is in the past, except for maybe the fact that she's at boarding school and it's really strict and the whole way people are courted and married off.

I don't feel that they are better than Twilight, but they are different. I was originally put off by the fact that it starts in India and I don't have a great desire to read about India (just personal preference). But the story line is very good and fast moving, although, I found it to be quite predictable (but I find very few books that are NOT predictable!)

you know how there has an "offical" twilight guide coming out very soon, well there's also an "unoffical" guide coming out .. I think they both will be good ...

I have read the 'unofficial' guide, it was okay, but not great. Funny at times, boring and random at others. Still, fans may want to pick it up.

As for Meyer's official guide that doesn't come out until Dec. 30th (Can you say Christmas gift, anyone? LOL), I cannot wait for it, because it's Stephenie writing it and I know its going to be amazing!

Really? My friend says it sucks. Lol.

I was never really interesting the movie Companion-- maybe because I didn't like any of the actors they choose for the main characters? But who knows-- maybe if it was cheaper, or I got it as a gift, I'd look through it and keep it with my other Twilight stuff, as memorabila if nothing else.

I think (if I heard my friend correctly) that the Movie Companion is basically just the novel Twilight with a different cover (that picture of the cast in a line, ya know??) .. I think that's a bit misleading because some people might already have the saga, hear there's a new "companion" book, race out and buy it and find out it's just Twilight with a different cover .. I am awaiting the Offical Guide .. THAT will be awesome.

Well, it's a movie companion...so, it's got great shots of the movie. (And believe me, I hate the casting of the movie, but it's wrapped up so nicely.) There are comments about the making of the movie and cast member's opinions and the like. Of course there is a synopsis of the movie, it's a companion afterall...

Seriously, it is a must have for any true Twilight fan (even if you didn't like the movie.)

if you read the book you hate the movie
if you did not read the book u love it

That's not true. I loved the book and thought the movie was pretty good. I didn't love it, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have LOVED it if I hadn't read the books. There were major flaws to loving it as a piece of cinema.
