Why would the victim have one of the books Sandy had helped to publish?

That may have been a fluke. She could have bought the book...it was a self-help book and she was supposed to have suffered from depression. Sandy's name was very much like her own so perhaps she decided to "borrow" her ID thinking no one would ever connect her with this woman that is several thousand miles away.

All these coincidences seem too tricky to me. Two women whose names could be shortened to "Alis", makes me think there was more to this than mistaken identity. I wonder if someone could have suggested to Alison Teal that she could pass herself off as Sandy Sechrest.

That made me think that Alison was trying to use Sandy's identity. I also think Sandy is somehow connected to this too.

>2 Carol420: Sandy was the publisher of the book not the author. I don’t think Sandy’s name would be on the cover. I like Lynda’s idea that someone suggested she pose as Sandy Sechrest. She used that name for the ferry too.

>1 Andrew-theQM: I don't know, but there's no such thing as coincidence in the plot lines we read.

Definitely no coincidence. I think indeed that somebody suggested she use Sandy’s identity.

Definitely quite an elaborate set up in order to use her identity, but surely someone else must have been involved in setting this up. Tom Rogerson is my theory.
