>1 fancythings: true confessions. If I had been told I would get #1 I would have bought it. Also you have a limited edition of 400 while Hector Servadac is limited to 800 at nearly double the price. Now that is a book treasure. Cannot wait to get my Dead Sea Scrolls (both editions). Already selling for a premium on eBay.

>2 HugoDumas: lol. Thank you. I can't wait to get the Dead Sea Scrolls as well. What a beauty of a book. I can't believe that EP did not call it a DLE. The Dead Sea Scrolls is really beautiful edition and could easily pass for DLE. True confessions, my dad purchased Hector Servadac DLE for me as well.

Indeed, I treat all of my DLE's as treasures. By the way, my parents love EP books too.

>3 fancythings: very clever. Get dad to fall in love with EP DLE so you have no resistance. Though Dad wants you to graduate with honors I presume and be successful like him. Good strategy.

You might as well talk to Dad about completing that Verne DLE set. It is quite beautiful. I have the 6 Verne volumes all in the Famous Editions size.

Agree Dead Sea Scrolls should have been DLE because it is a beautiful copy of their original Limited Editions Club.

>6 HugoDumas: lol. Someone is very perceptive. I received my first A in Calculus 1 and Microbiology, so my parents immediately agreed to get Hector Servadac DLE. lol

I saw the pictures, you have a very beautiful, expensive and to die for collection, extremely well done Sir.

>10 astropi:
I still have a few signed copies of my dissertation that I could number for you. Cloth, first edition, first printing 1975. Pages richly toned a lovely golden brown. Fine. No jacket, as issued. Rare.

I’ll number all of them #1 to accommodate multiple bidders.

Could be worth something eventually...they don't even have you print and bind them anymore. It's all electronic. All hail the PDF.

Sooo jealous! Congrats #1! For one of my numbered editions I asked for a low number and the reply I got was that they were sealed and therefore they don’t know which numbers are which 🙄

12: My dissertation was printed on special paper, and then bound. Not in leather of course :)
I actually printed a few copies on the special (all cotton) paper. Only one was bound by the University, but the others I had bound. As you said, it is also available electronically, but it's nice to know somewhere your dissertation is sitting on a shelf collecting dust!

11: First, I want to see pics, then we'll talk...

>16 astropi: same here. Just finished equivalent on my 25 years of research, and found a book binder in Urbana IL who will bind it in leather with hubbing, and marbled end papers for a good price. I think I will do it.

>1 fancythings: have you read the book yet? Just finished big consulting job and looking to reward myself with this book. While it is small, I notice it is also close to 600 pages. Are you still recommending this DLE? My research shows that it is considered Jules Verne’s best work.

>18 HugoDumas: I finished it and loved it more than 80 days around. Really good story, well written. Profusely illustrated throughout, just like you like it. Beautifully made book by EP. What a gem. Reward yourself as soon as possible before its gone. It limited to 400. Enjoy it. :)

My bank account will never recover. Good thing I don't drink. The money I spend on books is the amount my buddies spend at the bar.

>19 fancythings: only because of you did I order. A consulting paycheck helps. I trust you are impressed with the Dead Sea Scrolls. I Am! Tell your parents to consider the Tristan and Isolde DLE. One of my treasures....though expensive.

>22 HugoDumas: Congratulations!!! It was the best Verne adventure that I read so far. In my opinion, much better than around the world and Hector Servadac. Enjoy it in good health. Yeahhh. I will tell my parents about the Tristan and Isolde DLE. Thanks. My parents purchased 5 vol. Count of Monte Cristo. So, for now I will leave them alone. lol

>29 fancythings: this was a great read and those illustrations were wonderful. The size of the book was really no problem. This was a painful book to read after Michael was apparently blinded. A satisfying ending, the fake blindness and the marriage to heroine Nadia.

>30 HugoDumas: Great, I thought that this was the best novel by Verne. Glad you enjoyed it too. I was really into it and finished reading it in one week. Keep collecting and reading those little gems. I also liked "In Search of Castaways" by Verne. Check it out, you will love the story.
