Why do you think they wanted the bones of the three wise men?

Lots of people are still wondering about the three wise men and who they are or if the three wise men were even there. Some think they were great astronomers who read the stars and so possibly whoever wanted their bones may believe that they are powerful in some way.

At this point in the story, I can't imagine why anyone would want a bunch of old bones.

Is there some ancient sect out there, of which the Magi had been members? Perhaps their modern day descendants want their bones back for some reason?
Or could the bones be used for some maniacal ritual? Stranger storylines than this have been written...

I do know they weren't going to make soup. Perhaps they belong to a group that considers the bones scared. >2 EadieB: I had also seen a documentary that didn't think that the wise men (astrologers) ever visited Christ as a baby. One account says that Christ was at least 3 years old when the Magi found him. Who knows??

It could b that Sergei is right >5 Sergeirocks: and this sect wanted the bones back, other than that I can’t really think of a reason.
