This doesn't ship until May, but I went ahead and ordered now considering how quickly Lays of Bereliand disappeared (3 months).

I ordered it the first hour it appeared. You know, just in case. After all May is tomorrow. It might sell out in one day, who can say.

Delayed until June 21, 2018, per EP letter.

How's everyone like this? Anyone open one up yet?

I would like to get this one, but haven't yet since I don't have any of the Tolkien books by EP.

I have received mine, and like it.

It is thinner than some of the other Tolkien volumes, with about 105 pages. It does contain 6 plates, which are really simply reproductions of the manuscript pages. The Frontispiece is a color reproduction of the parchment colored page of '"Aotrou & Itroun', first folio of the manuscript". There are five more B&W pages of the manuscript, most in Tolkien's hand, the last being a typescript page with his handwritten notes.

This contains four parts:
Part One: The Lay of Aotrou and Itroun
Part Two: The Corrigan Poems
Part Three: The Fragment, Manuscript Drafts and Typescript
Part Four: Comparitive Verses

The book construction is on par with the more recent Tolkien offerings. So no compaints from me.

I like it, but as noted, it is thin.

On another note, I'm mad I bought a copy of Beren as a gift and gave it away without keeping a copy for myself. Promised myself I would never miss another tolkien after seeing aftermarket prices now.

>13 Roccosem: Okay here's what you do. You approach the receiver and ask them how they liked reading the book. Assuming they read it, tell them they are such a good friend (family member, associate, whatever) that you would be willing to buy them the newest Tolkien if they would like to read it. And since you haven't read Beren yet, they'd have to give that one back to you, but they would have a brand new Tolkien in exchange.

Anyone receive this yet? I'm guessing there are no illustrations, but I would like to know!
