Should Will feel guilty about the death of the child during his execution shot? Or was the child acceptable collateral damage?

no. it was the responsibility of the people on the ground to ensure that the mission was going as planned

From a professional viewpoint...no. The mission had been compromised from the time that the mother of the child left her there instead of taking her with her. From the standpoint of a human being with a conscience and a heart...yes. Robie had no way of knowing that she was going to be there, That was the fault of the people on the ground. I'm sure it didn't make him feel any better. What a Hellish business to be in anyway.

No It was an accident and not done purposefully but I'm sure anyone would feel bad at the unexpected death of a child.

Should Robie blame himself? - Only inasmuch as it's Robie's chosen job, and he has chosen to continue with it. Other than that the blame lies with the circumstances - the bad guys (terrorists and megalomaniacs); the war on terror; politics.
In this particular instance I'd ultimately lay blame squarely on the shoulders of the target who stuck his head above the parapet in the first place, knowing he'd become a target (hence the bodyguards) and should, therefore, have kept his family at arm's length, so they couldn't become 'collateral damage'. Or, perhaps he specifically kept them close in the hope whomever came after him may pay notice to this human shield?

>5 Sergeirocks: Hadn't thought of that.

>5 Sergeirocks: I don't think the child was a shield. She just happened to be behind the target unseen.

I can't imagine not feeling guilty if you were to accidentally shoot a child. Robie wasn't responsible for the recon. I think when someone plans an assassination they don't believe collateral damage is a deal breaker.

At the end of the day, Robie is an assassin; he's supposed to be a cold-hearted killer. If he's showing signs of guilt/regret/or whatever he should be getting out of the business. To do what he does, I don't think you can afford to have a heart.

>9 Sergeirocks: Yes, Guilty does make you wonder if he is in the right business. He is starting to ask questions and that no longer makes him ideal for this kind of mission. He shouldn’t feel guilty, it was the father and the ones in charge of the mission that should feel this guilt.
