Why do you think he saw a little boy? Was it linked to the girl he killed or his father?

I believe that it was, but it also could be himself and his father,

I think it was linked to the little girl and his subconscious was afraid that another child would be killed.

Once we knew the child was an hallucination, I thought it was Robie having some sort of flashback, seeing himself as a child, running to his own father.
