Any thoughts why Laura didn’t meet up with Will when they were going away together? Did he do the right thing in just going or should he have tired to speak to her?

I guess she thought twice about it and decided not to leave or maybe she didn't believe him. I think he should have thrown a stone at her window and asked her why she didn't meet him.

They were kids. I also wondered why he didn't try to get her to notice him and ask her.

Will was too young to realise that something may have been wrong that night. I'd guess that Laura was being abused (by her father?), and was held at home that night against her will. If he'd been older and wiser, I think Will would have attempted to sneak in and at least speak to Laura face to face before driving away into the night.

I think there were issues that young Will was completely oblivious to. I feel like sexual abuse would be a strong possibility.

He should not have left her high and dry like that without finding out what had gone on. Perhaps she wasn’t able to get out at that point.
