Who do you think was behind the attack on Pete, and why?

I think Pete's trying to take his father's place and the other group is trying to take it over themselves.

I can only imagine that it's goons in the employ of the Rebel Yell casino crowd. Not sure as to why in particular. Perhaps Clancy wanted a larger slice of the Rebel Yell pie and was killed for his pains, and now stupid Pete is trying his luck at the same thing.
Clancy must have held some evidence against Rebel Yell somewhere, otherwise why were the goons trying to force Pete to hand stuff over?

Pete is trying to take his father's place and isn't smart enough to do it and people are coming after him for that reason.

I think it's the casino thugs and that Peter was implying to them that he had info on them. That's probably how his father got in with them in the first place.

I also think Aubrey Davis is involved with the Casino and that Dan Robie knows more about this situation than he's letting on (probably due to threats against his family)

I also think it's the people from the casino. I wouldn't be surprised if Aubrey is somehow involved wit them.

It surely has to be the people from the casino business.
