If Laurie had left with Will when he left home, could things have turned out differently for her?

I would say that things would have been 98% better. She would have still carried the guilt and scars of her father and her brother's actions but she could have possibly got some help.

I think she was mentally ill and nothing would have kept her from going over the ledge. Will was lucky he dodged the bullet here.

I think Will could have saved her and helped her with her incest problems by getting her help. I think the persistent abuse by her father and the pregnancy drove her over the edge.

I think she was already damaged and the only thing that would have come of her leaving with Will would have been her dragging him down with her
