Just noticed that this is now for sale on the CP site and I'm sure it'll be of interest to some here. The jacket and interior illustrations look lovely and the book is signed by Susan Hlll and the two illustrators.

I've just snapped a copy up. Do so while you can - it's limited to only 300 copies and seems very reasonably priced at $95 so I doubt this one will be around for long. P&P is, as usual, not cheap for those of us outside the US, but at $60 it wasn't quite enough to put me off (unlike, for example, Suntup Press' recent Horns).

The p&p put me right off for about 10 seconds.

I have bought it too. I don't think this will last a week. Price is good, signed by author and illustrators, CP quality. Even if I was not interested this could be a good investment.

Bought. Reggie Oliver intro and illustrations, perfect.

Just for info - outside of special editions, about a month or so before a new Susan Hill book is published, she usually offers signed copies for purchase on her own website (to UK and Europe only), at no extra cost (the book is sent out on publication date). I have purchased most of her hardback ghost stories this way. Her website is here:

There was an illustrated edition of 'The Woman in Black' a few years ago - with atmospheric woodcuts by Andy English. The images can be viewed on his website where he sells engravings:

8 copies left!
Now $110. Modest increase. Maybe Jerad is operating a bit like the airline industry... with much better customer service of course :)
He's a one-man show, so i.don't begrudge him for slight increases when supply goes down.

And SOLD OUT

I wonder if a lot of copies went to Folio Society members. I imagine Susan Hill is more popular in her home country, but maybe not.

I did receive a confirmation of my order and notice that the book would be dispatched in 3-4 weeks. I apparently got in before the price change.

Received my copy and the illustrations are exceptional. That said, it appears to be sold out.

Centipede Press is one of my favorite indie publishers. They publish "horror" supernatural, science fiction, crime, pulp... all great stuff :)
And all their editions are limited, and given much love. My only complaint, I don't like the dust jackets, because I just don't like dust jackets period.

>16 astropi: I will make my own style slipcase or box one day to editions like these that i feel lacks something, a lot of fun and not hard

17: yes, that is good! Share pictures when you do :)
Personally, I would prefer a slipcase over a dust jacket anyday. Now, some of the CP editions do indeed come with slipcases, but also dust jackets, and as noted I am no fan of the latter.

>18 astropi: Sure, when i do, that could take some while, as i`m too busy right now, stay a member on LT and you will see ;)

Depending on the material, they are as you know easy to make, and it is easy to make nice, creative boxes instead of splurging money on them.

An example:

A standard book £50 / standard

The same book with a box of cheap quality £150 or more / deluxe edition with a signature of an illustrator nobody knows

- -

For this edition i will make a box with some black faux leather i have lying around, or a nice hardwood box with some nice hinges, and probably paint me a black dressed lady on the front made in a haunting image, when it`s self made it can be made more special and time and again more beautiful as it`s not "mass produced and to a certain degree hurried"

PS I got my book some days ago, i have just not had the time to get it out from the mail, i have been in the norwegian home guard? not allowed to do those kinds of things, really fast shipping, thumbs up Jerad

Finally got the chance to have a decent look at my copy. This is honestly one of the most delightful volumes I've seen in a long time. Everything about it is well-thought-out and of the highest quality and perfectly captures the tone of the novel. Not surprised at the fast sell-out. Very well done indeed, Jerad and co.

Sure, just go ahead and make me feel bad about taking a pass on this one. Haha

Also, just as a friendly reminder to everyone, there is a fledgling Centipede Press group on LibraryThing that could use some attention. And members.
