Letters From Father Christmas is now gone from the Easton Press Web site ... I wonder if that means this title sold out already?

>5 itacal1001: Maybe, but wouldn't be surprised if it comes back shortly, probably a best seller...….I'm still waiting for mine, placed an order the same day it came out and seems I'm not the only one!

Thanks to this post, I too placed an order the first day. I have a confirmation number, but I realize that is no guarantee. Hopefully they produced a big enough run to meet the backlog demand. Now if only they would reproduce "Tales From The Perilous Realm" then I can complete my Tolkien collection without having to pay a reseller $300.

That sold out surprisingly fast; I wonder if this was a reprint or lost inventory that they found?

I don't think it is sold out. When the page was up it didn't say it was in stock, but had their usual message instead, "Now accepting orders, this product will be available in November". I do believe it was a new printing and I would bet that it will be back up on the website soon. I'm not sure why they would take it down, but it's happened before and I'm sure it will happen again.

Ha, I placed an online order a couple days ago, as well. I don't think it would be a case of lost inventory since the page stated that it would not be available until November. If they had just found a few copies, they would have been available right away.

This sort of thing happens all the time. Either they met their initial order quota and have to renegotiate the initial print volume, or a defect was found with the initial test run and they're putting the brake on order intake until the issue is corrected. Or something similar to those ideas; it'll be back.

Yup .. occurs often. Last time I recall was the orwell NINETEEN EIGHTY-FOUR dle. It was up for a few days then went missing for a week or so.

It's been up ever since.

Wonder if its printed in China but bound in USA? Doesn't EP use the basic printing of some books and add the USA Leather binding? They have always done this I believe...like with the Peterson Field Guides back in the day. And coffee table books.

Their listing does not say printed in the US. It is very likely, therefore, this batch was printed outside of the US (China, Hong Kong etc).

Perhaps Easton decided to splurge on the right to re-print :) or purchased some old stock on the secondary market and is simply re-binding the text blocks. It is very likely; however, it will arrive bound in the same type of smooth cowhide...

inside book says ... "Printed and bound in China by RR Donnelley APS"

And the pages are very "plasticy-slick". Looks like a nice book ... I think $111 is a bit pricy for it. Assume paying a premium for the nicer cover ... but otherwise I would think the BN/Amazon version for $17 would be exactly the same (minus the nice leather cover).

I think EP only promises to bind its books in the USA, not necessarily print them there.

>18 treereader: ... yeah, i'm not a stickler of these matters. I was just replying to >16 EPsonNY: ... verifying that the website has no information regarding it. I just received my copy today ... and took notice.

It is interesting if, as you say ... "... promises to bind its books in the USA" ... apparently they did not hold up that promise on this title.

lol

>19 thisGuy33:

I was trying to think of a better word than promise but that was the best paraphrasing I could come up with last night. Perhaps intend is a better word. Given the seriousness of flaws found in their descriptions as of late, I'm not sure they feel obligated to make good on any of their statements anymore.
