Hey guys,

Just got home from checking out Diary of the Dead.

The handicam bit worried me at first, but it works, oh man does it work. I won't go into details, but Diary of the Dead was great. I liked it more than Land of the Dead (which I enjoyed quite a bit).

That's great to hear - I'm really looking forward to it. I'm supposed to go see it this Wednesday

Any idea when the release is going to spread to not-so-large cities?

LitClique,

Any idea when the release is going to spread to not-so-large cities? This is your typical George Romero indie zombie flick. Don't count on it getting a wide release.

We had to go to the art theatre downtown to catch it.

I see you live in Richmond. IMDb says Diary of the Dead is playing in Alexandria, VA. I don't know how far that is.

Ken,

Lemmee know what you think of Diary of the Dead.

Richmond to Alexandria is about 100 miles. Fortunately, I have family in the area and I'm not unfamiliar with making the drive to see a movie.

Richmond to Alexandria is about 100 miles.

Wow. Makes my thirty mile drive to see the movie seem like nothing.

I'm going to buy the DVD when it comes out, but I'm glad I saw it on the big screen. At first the audience laughed in inappropriate places and that got on my nerves. But before too long the movie hooked everyone and the theatre was quiet except for when the audience would scream. There was that magic where I was loving the movie and I could tell everyone else was too.

js9000 - my window of opportunity fell through - I didn't get to go see DIARY. Still a slight chance, if it stays in the theater for another week or two (an 80 minute ride for me), but it looks like I'll have to wait for the DVD. :(

Hey, you may have done yourself a favor. It's an excellent movie, but my better half had a wallop of a headache from the whole 'handicam on a big screen' effect. We're both glad we saw it though.

I was VERY disappointed with both LAND and DIARY. I've been a Romero fan since 1975, but his last 2 zombie outings have left me wanting.

Hmm. I liked both quite a bit, though I would say Diary was better than Land.
