Have you read Linwood Barclay before?
If so what are your thoughts about him as an author? Do you have a favourite book?

Okay appears I can post comments from my phone but not my iPad. Very strange.

I've read a couple: Too Close to Home and The Accident. I can't remember a thing about them but the rating shows I really enjoyed them.

I've read 11 of his books including this one which I read for NetGalley before it was published. Gave most of them 5 or 4-1/2 stars. I gave Broken Promise only 3 stars. Here's my review of Broken Promise:
This book had a hard time getting started but did pick up about 1/2 way through. Since this is part of a trilogy, it felt a little slow-paced as if Barclay was trying to stretch the story out over 3 books. It has plots and sub-plots which are a little bit too much for one book and it got a bit convoluted. In the end he came through, so I am looking forward to the next book in the trilogy. I've read other Barclay books, so I know he's a talented writer. Just don't let this one be the first of his books you read if you haven't read him yet.

I've read all the Promise Falls series...more than once and all of his standalones except...ironically enough...this one. Another standalone..."Elevator Pitch" comes out in September of 2019.

It's over 3 years since I read one by this author, I can't remember too much about his style.
I think we did Too Close to Home as a group read, I know I enjoyed that book to the tune of 5★s.
I've read 2 others of his that I only gave 3★s apiece.

Think we also did The Accident as a group read too.

The stats that I rescued from Shelfari and Leafmarks show that we read two of his books as group reads both on Shelfari. The Accident with no date read and No Time For Goodbye read September 17, 2015. I wish I had been quicker to think to rescue them.

>9 Carol420: You did great to rescue any. I thought we had read another one together.

>10 Andrew-theQM: I thought so also but it's not on the list. If we did it was on Shelfari. I have everything from Leafmarks but I don't have all of Shelfari. I know that Jonetta was leading discussions long before I started trying to keep track of them.

Thanks for this information, Carol and Andrew, as you say it was pre-Librarything so I had nothing but 'finished reading' dates for the three of them, and had forgotten they were group reads. I've managed to update their status now.
(Carol, the finished reading dates I have for them are:
The Accident - 19 May 2014
Too Close to home - 29 June 2015
No Time for Goodbye - 22 Sept 2015)

>12 Sergeirocks: Thank you. wish I had thought sooner to keep the stats for our group reads. Hindsight:(

>13 Carol420: They say it's a wonderful thing, :)

>14 Sergeirocks: i should know...I've had lots of it:)
