Hey Friends!

I don't think I even read 40 books last year - blech! I'm hoping to fix this year! My goal is to get back on track with presidential biographies (I left off at FDR), read all the amazing new Star Wars books that are slated for this year and generally just have a good year! Book 11. Skyward by Brian Sanderson (audio)

I've always been told that I would like Sanderson's work, but I never knew where to start. This synopsis of this book grabbed me and I was hooked! This was a fabulous story! And I'm so excited to hear that it is the first in a series! Of course, now I have to wait for the next book to come out. The story is about Spense, a girl who is trying to escape the tales of her father's alleged cowardness. All Spense wants is to fly and that means butted heads with the planet's defense group which runs the only flight academy. It is an incredible book. Highly recommended.

Book 13. No Ordinary Time by Doris Kearns Goodwin

I was incredibly underwhelmed by this book. I know it won the Pulitzer, but I did not like it. It was too cursory in terms of politics and the war. I was also surprised that it was not a flattering picture of Eleanor Roosevelt. I thought it was a bit too fawning of FDR.
