>9 Andrew-theQM: Luckily, a lot was saved. I know Macron wants it restored in 5 years, but that won't happen. Its not like this was a prefab building. The amount of skilled artisans and craftsmen necessary will be difficult to find, as they are on other restoration sites. I highly doubt it will be done in my lifetime. But at least millions of $ have already been donated to restoration.

I found out when I was doing a challenge for another group that there isn't going to be a "Z" book in Sue Graftons's alphabet series. When she died in 2017 she only had a the title "Z is For Zero", and she didn't want anyone else writing the book...so her family honored her wishes. I wondered why it never came out in the fall of 2018. Going to miss her and Kinsey Millhone.

>15 Andrew-theQM: I understand about her not wanting anyone else to write it. If you know the person that is going to do it, it might be okay... but if you don't and it turns out to be horrible, that's what the entire series will be judged on. I hate Ace Atkins writing the Robert Parker series. It's not like Robert Parker would have done it.

>17 Andrew-theQM: That is beyond interesting. 800 people dead as the result of a rehearsal seems absurd....ludicrousness...and any other adjective you can think of. Why would anyone need to practice to kill people? They probably did more damage than the enemy would have done.

>20 Andrew-theQM: Amazing! I wonder how the people that thought up this piece of brilliance justified it?

Of course practice for D Day was necessary. The cause of the massacre was that in 1944 no German E-Boats should ever have been allowed to close the coast of Devon.

>22 tendring: Practice was definitely necessary, but was there a reason that they needed to use live ammunition on their own? Totally agree, should have been better protection against e-boat incursion and the Germans spying on the operation.
