I was just talking with Librarianwannabe about this.
Good news for some, though I never really got into Anne Rice myself.

I saw that, too, and wondered, "will it be any good"? I grew tired of her after about 4-5 books.

I've never read any of her books. I have a low opinion, but it is totally unfair and illogical. Still, I have so many other books lined up I don't see myself rushing to read any of hers.
Still, Anne Rice returning to horror ought to be big news in this group.

I have many of her books in my library. I prefer her Mayfair Witches, but the Vampires were original, ay least.
What I wonder: will her new Vamp have more of her current philosophical leanings?

She said that the new book will have Christian themes I believe.

Eh...I don't really care. After Queen of the Damned the quality really went downhill. I don't want to be preached at, have the same story told to me again or listen to someone grind away at their axe; all of which she's guilty of in the books after QOTD. Stupidly, I kept buying the books and hoping though I have now stopped.

WOW this is really great news. I hope she'll decide to
start wriitng her Horror Novels again. I wonder what
made her decide to write at least one more Vampire
Lestat book. I'm gonna wait and see if I will jump right
back on the Anne Rice Band Wagon again. I can't wait
until it gets Published.

She always had a special affection for LeStat. I was always surprised that she didn't write more books about him.
I'm trying to remember now -- how many books is LeStat in?
Two? First one, Rock Star one. 'Course, Interview wasn't about him. Did he have a cameo in any of the others? Armand, Vittorio, etc?

I beg to differ, Scaryguy, Interview was VERY much about him. He was just filtered through Louis's perception. I remember hating him very much by the end and then reading Lestat and finding his character not quite as evil as Louis made out. I never read Vittorio and barely remember Armand, but he must have been in that one to some extent, if only in memory.

We're on the same lines: Just different expression. I saw it as about Louis's personal struggle with his conversion and the homo-erotic relationship with LeStat.
Rice herself mentioned that the book was about Louis, but she found him too whiney and liked LeStat better. Was Louis in any more books? He doesn't stand out in my memory.

Well he was in Lestat because he's part of Lestat's life, but he only shows up 'in person' at the end, as opposed to the narrative memory he had been during the story. He is present in QotD as well and not as a narrative memory.
