Does anyone have any advice on using a browser other than Safari on an iPad?

Since the last update I am forced to have SpellCheck on Safari, and it's driving me crazy. Not only do I switch between English and German a lot and in English, while I generally prefer UK spellings, sometimes I use US, but a high proportion of my searches are author names. I also copy URLs a lot. I would guess that three out of four of the red lines are on words that are correct. Most of the rest I would catch without help, and given the accuracy rates I trust my own eye.

I have been assured at the Apple Store that this is a feature and cannot be turned off. I say it is a bug, and therefore am looking for a different browser.

Do you have "Check Spelling" turned off in Settings?

(Settings > General > Keyboard)

Yes. This is just in Safari, not in anything else on the iPad.

Have you tried turning off predictive text?

Look, I've tried everything I could think of, and then went to the Apple store for help. I can't find a way to turn it off, and the Apple guy is convinced that it can't be turned off. The only thing I can think of now is using a different browser.

This is new behaviour since the last iOS update. The iOS has spell check turned off, and that is fine for everything but Safari.

Well, chrome works well. I think Opera is recommended, though I've never used it.
