Musician Dr. John, nee Mac Rebennack, died June 6 at the age of 77. His autobiography was called Under a Hoodoo Moon: The Life of the Night Tripper.

Chef Maida Heatter died June 6 at the age of 102. A couple of her favorite books include Maida Heatter's Book of Great Chocolate Desserts and Maida Heatter's Book of Great Desserts .

Uighur writer Nurmuhammad Tohti died in a Chinese internment camp where he had been placed for "re-education". He was 70. The exact date of his death is unknown. Anita Epstein survived the Holocaust because her Jewish parents smuggled her in a valise to a Catholic family who protected her during the war. She died June 27 at the age of 76. Her memoir was called Miracle Child: The Journey of a Young Holocaust Survivor.
