Self check-in by patrons

Hi! We have a voluntary school library of about 5000 books. A few English teachers with volunteer students manage the library currently.

We love the self check-out button in TinyCat! Is there a way for students to check-in books themselves?

Unfortunately, no, there isn't a self-return feature. You'll need to have a teacher or volunteer return the books (perhaps periodically, in stacks, which would work fine from your Admin's Check in/out page: https://www.librarycat.org/admin/checkinout) as needed! Sorry for the inconvenience.

Please let me know if you've got any other questions, happy to help.

Thanks a lot for your reply!

I am an English teacher at Avasara Academy, Pune, India. We have a library of about 5000 books, currently being managed by some language teachers and students. We're quite excited about using TinyCat!

I do have a few more questions:
1. Is it possible to have simple circulation for some patrons and individual accounts for others?

2. Is it possible to integrate subscriptions (like JSTOR) into the catalog and/or search function? This won't stop us from moving forward. I am just curious.

3. It would also be helpful to know if we can use our Google Apps sign-in to grant access to the individual accounts we create. It's often referred to as "single sign-on".

Thanks, again.

That's great, it sounds like TC may well be a great solution for you!

Happy to answer your questions:
1. In short, no, sorry.

2. Another no, I'm afraid. We don't have periodicals or copies management at this time (though this could change), and I suspect that we won't add a feature for integrating subscriptions either. Sorry for the trouble.

3. I'm not familiar with this, and my inclination as such would be no. That said, do you have more information about what this feature does exactly? I'm not sure what you mean by granting access to the individual accounts you create. Thanks for clarifying!

is this a function that has been added since 2019 - we also have a self-sufficient library that we are asking students to reshelve their own books

Thanks for the note! Unfortunately, we have not yet added a self-return feature for patrons. If you have any trusted individuals to give a Volunteer Admin login, you can have them use the Admin Check in/out page to return items as needed. (You can read more about this feature on another thread: https://www.librarything.com/topic/335236 ) I hope this helps.
