Hello,
Just a quick note to let you know that the first book by Lusophone writer Ondjaki to be published in english is available. Good Morning Comrades tells a story of the Angolan civil war from the perspective of a 12 year old boy. Moving, lyrical and troubling, it introduces one of the most exciting young African writers to an english-reading audience for the first time.
Another press in England, Aflame Books, is also set to release another book by Ondjaki, a fable titled The Whistler. I've not read it yet, but look forward to it. I am certain that it will be very good.
If any of the members of this group are from south-western Ontario, we're bringing Ondjaki in to tour for a week in mid-March. Check out www.biblioasis.com to find out where he'll be.
