What were your initial thoughts about the ship in distress, which we subsequently discovered was called The Goreno?

Couldn't be anything but the Oregon. Too coincidental for anything else.

I noticed the fact that Goreno is Oregon spelled backward.

>3 EadieB: Oh good catch. I just now saw that after reading your comment. I also figured it had to be the Oregon but not because I was as quick as >3 EadieB:....but just because that was something they would do.

I assumed it was the Oregon especially since the name of the ship was an anagram of Oregon and that tends to be a little thing of Max's (he especially like Norego I think based on how often he's used it)

I knew it was the Oregon. They love the whole anagram thing.

Even before the name was revealed it was obvious it was going to be the Oregon and crew as that often happens at the beginning of the book. Cussler has used this ploy on more than one occasion so become transparent. The anagram just conformed this.
