How did you think they would ‘erase’ the island?

They are going to blow up the island.

I assumed they were going to blow it to bits

They'll blow it up...people and all.

Just get rid of the aircraft and installations and kill all personel, whether prisoners or guards.
The Indian authorities think the island is a no-go area and steer clear any way, but seeing as the Nine intend to take over the world soon, no one will be able to check out the site or question what happened there.
