What did you think had happened to the technology experts on the ‘downed’ plane?

I thought they were being held captive somewhere on the island.

I suspected it was a kidnapping and that they were taken for their specific skill sets so they could help with the development of Colossus

They are being held by the bad guys and probably being forced to work on the Colossus Project.

They were being used as a workforce by the Nine.

Yes, kidnapped them to work on the project. One way to get a skilled workforce.

They were keeping them to help some of the development issues. I'm pretty sure I saw this on an old Mission Impossible episode. Or maybe an old Avengers episode. Or maybe both.
