Any thoughts who the woman was who followed Laurence and Ingrid out of the shop?

I thought it might be the woman from Water House (Wentwood)

There have been quite a few women introduced into the story, and it could be any one of them: Ingeborg's landlady, Maggie (Jock's wife - though I can't see why), the woman from the dry-cleaners, Mrs. Wentwood/Wentworth(?), the woman at the house where Ingeborg called, and last but not least, Dorothy - the ex-head mistress who has been watching out for Pam.

(Do we know how old Maggie's son Carl is?)

I thought it was Mrs. Wentwood.

I had no idea. I believe somewhere it indicated that he was a teenager???

>5 Carol420: I was just wondering whether Carl might be of an age to be Ingeborg's reported child? Although we don't know for certain that she'd been pregnant from her fling with Wexer.
We have lots of information, but it's not easy to discern where it's all pointing, πŸ€”.

>7 Sergeirocks: I had thought that also but if he was Ingeborg's child how did Jock and his wife come by him? Kate Ellis's books always have a lot of characters to sort through.

>8 Carol420: I have to admit to clutching at straws on this one, Carol. I can't see where anything's leading, so I think I'm making up my own story, ha! ☺️

>9 Sergeirocks: I've done that:) Sometimes what I make up is better than what the author was getting paid for.

This is quite a complex little book, so MANY different strands to the story.
